'Quickly it developed in to a love of helping people when they are at their most vulnerable.'

What do you do as a NSW SES volunteer?

I am a unit volunteer and have been with the Port Macquarie Unit for just over 3 years and am trained in; Storm & Water Damage (at ground level and at heights), First Aid, Land Searches, assisting with fallen trees, Road Crash Rescue, Urban Search and Rescue, Industrial and Domestic Rescue, to name but a few.

Why did you join the NSW SES?

Initially it was for personal development, to get out of my comfort zone and learn new skills but quickly it developed in to a love of helping people when they are at their most vulnerable.

Describe the personal benefits you get from being an NSW SES volunteer?

It gives you skills you can use in everyday life, it makes you more confident and capable to tackle whatever comes your way and most importantly, gives you the opportunity to train and work alongside some amazing committed and dedicated individuals.
