At just 21, Kyogle’s Cameron Castledine is already making a big impact in his local community. As part of National Youth Week celebrations, Cameron has been named as the NSW State Emergency Service (SES) Young Volunteer of the Year.  

NSW State Emergency Service (SES) members have freed a pilot trapped in a wreckage after a light plane crashed into a paddock at Berrima, in the Southern Highlands this morning (Thursday 16 April).

When 16-year-old Leila Thew witnessed a light plane crash at Albion Park, she used the skills she learnt in the NSW State Emergency Service (SES) Youth Internship Program to spring into action.

Emergency response, preparedness and training will now be coordinated from a new purpose-built precinct in Batemans Bay, housing both the NSW State Emergency Service (SES) and NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS).

Drivers will be urged to steer clear of floodwater at this year’s Sydney Royal Easter Show as NSW State Emergency Service (SES) members return to connect with thousands of showgoers.  

When storms hit, roads flood or someone needs help, communities across the Central West know members of the NSW State Emergency Service (SES) will step forward and get the job done.  

More than 650 years of combined service, thousands of lives impacted and countless hours given by NSW State Emergency Service (SES) members were recognised at the Metro Zone Awards over the weekend. 

Make sure you visit the SES Display staffed by NSW SES volunteers from Griffith Unit at the Thank a First Responder Day Display. We'll have activities and hand-outs to help you and your family better understand and prepare for emergencies such as storms and floods.

Come along to the Eugowra Siren Test and Community BBQ at Eugowra Showgrounds. The Siren Test will commence at 1100hrs. Share information about the risks you may face in your area and chat with NSW SES Eugowra Unit volunteers, as well as Eugowra RFS about practical tips on how you can prepare for emergencies. This event presents a wonderful opportunity to connect with your local emergency services and local communities while enjoying a free BBQ.
