The NSW State Emergency Service (SES) will take part in Playdates with Emergency Services starting this week across four locations, giving children and families in the Eurobodalla the chance to meet local emergency service responders, explore emergency vehicles and learn how to prepare for emergencies.

The Disaster Rescue Challenge (DRC) is a hands-on, scenario-based event where SES teams test their disaster response skills across areas including rescue, land search, navigation, rescue, storm operations, and first aid. Teams are assessed throughout the challenge, with top performers progressing to the State Disaster Rescue Challenge.

A massive 350 years of combined service was celebrated this week as NSW State Emergency Service (SES) volunteers from across the Central West were recognised at special awards ceremonies. 

Flood and storm response in the state’s Central West is being bolstered by a new NSW State Emergency Service (SES) facility, as construction starts on a project delivering a fit-for-purpose space for first responders. 

When Roger Benson joined the NSW State Emergency Service (SES) in 1975, the Sutherland Unit was run out of a disused fire brigade station and a member’s garage in Engadine. There were no formal buildings or uniforms, just a group of dedicated locals wanting to serve their community.
