A large-scale multi agency response led by NSW State Emergency Service (NSW SES) is underway after a supercell hit Coffs Harbour region this afternoon.

NSW SES has so far responded to over 280 requests for assistance with its emergency services partners after large hailstones and damaging winds impacted the region around 2pm this afternoon (Wednesday 20 October 2021).

The roof of a shopping Centre in Toormina was severely damaged during the weather event, with a local nursing home also extensively damaged.

At this stage, there are no reports of injury.

Crews are continuing to respond to requests for assistance, with numbers expected to climb as people return to their homes after work.
