Weather Outlook for Friday Afternoon

Severe thunderstorm activity is expected about the Mid North Coast, Hunter, Northern Tablelands and parts of Metropolitan, Central Tablelands and North West Slopes and Plains this afternoon.

So far the NSW SES are responding to 16 jobs in the greater Sydney area and Central Coast. Majority of the jobs are tree and storm related, no significant damage to report at this stage.

People in the impact areas can prepare by doing the following:

  • Move cars under cover, away from trees and powerlines. 
  • Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony that can blow around from strong wind. 
  • Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well. 

For commuters traveling home from work or through the impact area, please visit Live Traffic NSW to plan your trip and view all current road closures. 

These storms are likely to go throughout the night although ease into the evening. The southerly change Saturday morning will see the thunderstorms possibly cease.
