RAPIDLY RISING FLOOD WATERS – WORONORA

Flood Warning has been updated for Georges River and Woronora.

Rapid and dangerous river rises are currently occurring with Major flooding forecast from 9pm tonight at Liverpool,

and midnight tonight at Milperra.

In Woronora, major flood consequences are occurring and expected to worsen. An evacuation order is in place, urgently advising residents to evacuate.

In life threatening emergencies, call 000 (triple zero) immediately. If you require rescue or other emergency help, ring NSW SES on 132 500.

NSW SES have issued emergency evacuation orders for:

 

WORONORA - EVACUATE NOW

  • Low lying parts of Woronora
    • Harrison Avenue (2.4m Woronora Gauge – Minor)
    • McKinley Avenue (2.4m Woronora Gauge – Minor)
    • Washington Drive (2.4m Woronora Gauge – Minor)
    • Wilson Place (2.5m Woronora Gauge – Minor)
    • Once floodwater reaches 2.4 metres at the Woronora Bridge, the area will be isolated. If you remain in the area after 7pm Monday 4th July 2022 you may be trapped without power, water and other essential services and it may be too dangerous to rescue you.

 

  • Low lying parts of Woronora on the eastern side of the river
    • Liffey Place
    • Thames Street
    • Prince Edward Park Road North of the bridge at the RSL
    • USE EVACUATION ROUTE: Proceed north on Prince Edward Park Road and east on Menai Road
    • Once floodwater reaches 2 metres at the Woronora Bridge, the area will be isolated. If you remain in the area after 8pm Monday 4th July 2022 you may be trapped without power, water and other essential services and it may be too dangerous to rescue you.

 

  • Low lying parts of Bonnet Bay
    • Johnson Close, Arthur Place and properties on Lower Washington Drive backing onto Johnson Close
    • USE EVACUATION ROUTE: Proceed east on Washington Drive towards Tudor Road and Sutherland
    • Once floodwater reaches 2 metres at the Woronora Bridge, the area will be isolated. If you remain in the area after 8pm Monday 4th July 2022 you may be trapped without power, water and other essential services and it may be too dangerous to rescue you.

 

  • Flood waters are rapidly rising in Woronora.
  • If you are unable to evacuate using safe evacuation route, move to higher ground immediately.
  • Stay with family & friends where possible outside of flood areas.
  • Evacuation centre is established at Gymea Tradies, 57 Manchester Road, Gymea.
  • Stay up to date, listen to ABC radio. 
  • If you require assistance to evacuate, call the NSW SES on 132 500.
