I volunteered for 4 years at the Parramatta unit. I enjoyed my time at the NSW SES so much that I have pursued a career with NSW SES in the Sydney Western Region office as the Community Engagement Coordinator, now I have a job that I love, working with a bunch of people that I love, and I’m still able to volunteer in my spare time.

Why did you join the NSW SES?

I wanted the opportunity to make a difference in my local community. My husband and I joined together to have fun, make new friend and learn new skills and to do something together that didn’t involve our children something just for “us”. I have a 5yr daughter and 2yr old son.

What is your favorite part about the NSW SES?

  • Feeling part of a huge family of volunteers.
  • The sense of achievement that what we do does make a difference in people’s lives.

What skills have you learned along the way?

Storm damage, Flood boat, Level 3 Flood rescue operator (first female in the State) leadership, trainer, media, social media, community engagement, public speaking, operations.
