Severe Weather Update - Tuesday 13 June

13/06/2017 12:56 PM

Persistent rainfall continues to move further north towards Queensland, the NSW SES are keeping a close eye on the coastal areas north of Evans Head where the Bureau of Meteorology have advised that up to 60mm of widespread rainfall is expected today and into this evening.

There is still an outside chance of localised thunderstorms that may lead to flash flooding for coastal areas on the Far North Coast. In addition, minor flood peaks are also moving downstream along the Wilsons, Richmond and Tweed Rivers.

With water still around from recent rainfall, please keep an eye on local road conditions and closures at www.myroadinfo.com.au and major road impacts at www.livetraffic.com.au

The community is urged to consider their travel plans if they’re going to be travelling through areas that may be affected by heavy rain and flash flooding. If the roads are closed due to flooding they should delay their travel or find another way to their destination.

If residents need emergency help as a result of this severe weather they should call the NSW SES on 132 500, but if the situation is life-threatening they should dial Triple Zero (000).
