NSW SES members from the Wollongong and Dapto Units assisted NSW Police in the search for two men who became lost in the Royal National Park at Otford about 6pm last night (Sunday 27 June 2021).

18 NSW SES members participated in the search, locating a 30-year-old man on the walking track near Lady Wakehurst Drive, and another man – aged 49 – nearby a short time later.

Emergency services are too often called to situations where people have entered the bush without sufficient clothing, footwear, equipment or preparation for where they are going.

NSW SES strongly urges anyone going for a bushwalk to first check the National Parks and Wildlife Service website for vital information on how to prepare for a bushwalk, as well as latest park conditions and closures: https://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/
