NSW State Emergency Service (NSW SES) volunteers have been called to 22 flood rescues overnight as wet weather continues until the weekend.

NSW SES is pleading with members of the public not to drive through floodwater and to keep up-to-date with the latest flood and storm bulletins.

The Bureau of Meteorology has warned more storms are forecast across most of Eastern NSW this afternoon and over the next few days.

• It is important to never drive, ride or walk through floodwater - if it's flooded, forget it.
• Limit any unnecessary travel during severe weather.
• Do not let children or animals play in floodwater. It can contain chemicals, debris, dead animals and even sewage.
• If you are caught in rising floodwater, seek refuge at the highest possible and sturdiest place and call Triple Zero (000).

From 4am on Thursday, about one metre of rain fell on Tamworth, Corindi and Coffs Harbour in the space of 30 minutes.

Volunteers were called to 22 flood rescues and about 160 jobs across the state. 

Busy units included the Tamworth Unit with 70 calls, and Coffs Harbour Unit with 25 calls over the last 24 hours.

The majority of requests for assistance have related to leaking roofs, flooding and trees and branches coming down in strong winds.
