NSW State Emergency Service (SES) Commissioner Kyle Stewart, has officially opened the new NSW SES Guyra Unit Headquarters today, Wednesday 22nd May 2019 at 1:30pm.

Guyra is susceptible to severe storms, generally during Spring and Summer (September to March). The new NSW SES Guyra Unit Headquarters provides NSW SES volunteers with a fit for purpose facility to work with the local community in preparing for and responding to natural disasters and emergencies.

“NSW SES Volunteers partner with community members to build awareness increase community preparedness and respond to the impact of severe thunderstorms. This facility will support the community of Guyra in being prepared for and responding to emergencies”, says Commissioner Stewart

Guyra has a population of 2000 people and the NSW SES enjoys a close working relationship with the community, other emergency services and the Armidale Regional Council. The new Guyra Unit Headquarters is located at Starr Road in Guyra.

“This location will improve our response times and provide us with closer proximity to help other emergency services during natural disasters and other emergencies,” says Commissioner Stewart.
