Wind, Snow and Cool Temperatures Southeast NSW

15/06/2018 09:59 AM

Cold air associated with a series of cold fronts is expected to move through NSW this Friday and during the weekend, as a parent complex low pressure system in the southern ocean moves east.

Widespread and deep snow falls are expected about the Alpine regions of the Snowy Mountains (including the ski fields), and elevated areas of the ACT (Brindabella ranges) and the South West Slopes. Strong and gusty winds are also forecast, making for difficult driving conditions.

Plan your trip with the Live Traffic website and drive the conditions if heading south over the weekend.

Winds may reach gale force with damaging gusts during Friday and Saturday, particularly about the southern half of the ranges, and the Illawarra and South Coast locations.

Current weather warnings are in place for damaging winds in the Alps and for the Illawarra and South Coast and adjacent ranges.

Locations which may be affected include Thredbo, Nowra, Bowral, Braidwood, Goulburn and Cooma.

A warning to Sheep Graziers is current for southern parts of the ranges. To read all NSW weather warning, visit the Bureau of Meteorology website

People in the impact locations can prepare by moving vehicles under cover or away from trees and securing loose items around your house, yard and balcony. Learn more ways you can prepare for strong wind and storms
