Wet And Stormy Conditions This Week

12/12/2018 04:00 AM

Wet and stormy conditions are expected across most of NSW from Thursday through to Friday.

Widespread rain, showers and thunderstorms are expected, with the wettest period likely to be during the second half of Thursday and into Friday.

Storms have the potential to become severe Thursday afternoon, heavy rainfall is more likely for parts of the north and central west slopes, while damaging wind gusts and large hail are of concern in the south.

Thunderstorms are possible both days for Sydney and other highly populated areas between Newcastle and Wollongong, however these areas are most likely to be affected by severe thunderstorms during Friday.

Severe Thunderstorm Warnings are likely to be issued during the course of Thursday and Friday.

There is a potential threat with ex tropical Cyclone Owen if it moves south of the Queensland coast into New South Wales Northern Rivers locations, bringing rain as it travel down on Sunday and Monday.

As we move into the weekend people in the Northern Rivers location need to be aware of their risk and plan according. If this system does end up affecting the region, residents are advised to review their flood plan now.
