Update On Severe Weather Friday Morning05/10/2018 07:26 AM
Overnight severe weather brought in over 129 calls for assistance, NSW SES volunteers responded to calls and attended houses with leaking roofs and storm damage around the Sydney Metropolitan, Illawarra and South Coast locations.
This morning the Bureau canceled the Severe Weather Warning for the Hunter and Metropolitan.
Today showers continue in the east, mainly along the northern half of the coast. The chance of an afternoon thunderstorm in the far northeast of NSW is expected with hazardous surf conditions about central parts of the coast.
Volunteer crews are ready to assist communities, focusing on North Sydney, Newcastle and possible storms in the mid north coast and far north coast of NSW this afternoon.
Localised flash flood or water over roads is a high concern should heavier rainfall rates increase in the Northern locations.
As it is school holidays ensure children do not play in drains or near areas that are flooded. Park your car under cover, not under a tree, and well clear of areas that may be affected by flooding. Never enter floodwater – seek an alternate, safer route. Plan for what you and your families will do, learn more
