Thursday Afternoon Thunderstorm Activity

19/04/2018 04:52 PM

Unsettled conditions are expected to contract to the northeast of the State during Friday, Saturday and Sunday with possible thunderstorms and some persistent shower activity.

No jobs have been reported as of yet but people in Hunter, Central Tablelands, Central West Slopes and Plains and parts of North West Slopes and Plains, Lower Western and Upper Western Forecast locations should prepare now for heavy rainfall.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding, large hailstones and damaging winds in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Newcastle, Walgett and Lightning Ridge.

  • Now is the time to move your car under cover, away from trees and powerlines.
  • Make children and animals stay away from creeks and storm drains.
  • Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.
