Storms and Severe Weather NSW

The NSW SES has received 70 calls for emergency help across the State with severe storms affecting communities in the southern inland.

In Cootamundra there have been reports of trees on homes and powerlines, broken windows and roof damage. Seven NSW SES teams supported by Fire and Rescue NSW and the Rural Fire Service and local Council are attending to 29 requests for emergency help, with some being significant jobs. There are reports of 750 properties without power, with Essential Energy working to restore service.

In the Micalong Campsite at Wee Jasper fallen trees affected campsites with around 400 campers in attendance.  Two persons were slightly injured with NSW SES providing first aid to one person.

Severe storms are now occurring in the Illawarra and parts of Sydney metro, with a Detailed Severe Thunderstorm Warning in place. For details on the latest weather warnings go to www.bom.gov.au/nsw
