Severe Thunderstorms have crossed the east coast of NSW, bringing heavy rainfall and impacting communities in the Greater Sydney Area and parts of southern NSW. Further severe thunderstorms are likely during Friday and could produce very heavy rainfall, large hail and damaging or destructive winds.

Since Thursday afternoon NSW SES crews have attended over 675 jobs in the Wagga Wagga (64), Albury (58), Orange (44) and Wollondilly (36) areas.

The majority of storm damage across these areas relates to roof damage, water inundation and trees down.

The NSW SES has undertaken 7 Flood Rescues during this weather event – 4 in Albury and 3 in Sydney Metro. All of these tasks were for vehicles in flood water and have been completed successfully.

Today thunderstorms are occurring along the ranges and slopes and are expected to continue throughout the day. Thunderstorms possibly severe about the ranges and slopes, including the South Coast. Thunderstorms are possible in the southwest of the state also. Possible raised dust over the west in the afternoon and near thunderstorms west of the divide.

A Severe Weather Warning is current for South Coast and parts of Snowy Mountains and a Flood Watch for the Macintyre, Gwydir, Moruya, Tuross, Bega and Towamba Rivers.
