Congratulations to our NSW SES volunteers from the Wingecarribee Unit for winning a Highly Commended in the Resilient Australia Awards at NSW Parliament on the 16th October 2018.
The Resilient Australia Awards is a national program, convened by the Office of Emergency Management that recognises and promotes initiatives that strengthen community disaster resilience across the nation.
The award was presented by Minister Troy Grant for the Get Ready Girls Campaign.
Get Ready Girl in Mittagong empowers women of the local community through learned skills to help themselves and others in an emergency situation or disaster. Training includes preparing the house for a flood, basic first aid and bush walk safety. By increasing the confidence and skills of women, there is an increase in overall community resilience.
We are proud of you all for your efforts to make your community safer.
