The NSW SES State Disaster Rescue Competition 2017 was held in Bathurst over the weekend. Volunteers competed in a series of simulated emergency situations where their skills and resources were put to the test.
The competition scenarios ranged from simulated storm and water damage, land search, and rescue from heights and depths to flood rescue and mass casualty; rescue teams were tested on their leadership, teamwork, adaptation and decision making.
The winning teams this year included:
1st Place - NSW SES Port Macquarie Unit
2nd Place - NSW SES Gosford Unit
3rd Place - NSW SES Queanbeyan Unit
Port Macquarie Unit were awarded the right to represent NSW SES, and defend the title, at the National Rescue Competition later this year in Tasmania.
A variety of spectators attended the Bathurst Showground from all around the Central West and many parts of the State to cheer on the teams and view up close the exciting scenarios as well as the dedication and professionalism of our volunteer rescue teams.
Congratulations to all NSW SES teams for their professionalism and team spirit demonstrated over the weekend.
