Severe Weather Warning Extends to Include Sydney

The Severe Weather Warning has been extended by the Bureau of Meteorology to include the Sydney Metropolitan, Illawarra, South Coast and parts of the Hunter, Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands and Snowy Mountains Forecast Districts
A low off the central coast of New South Wales is expected to move south to southeast overnight. This will lead to heavy rain and thunderstorms which may lead to flash flooding tonight and Saturday.
The Bureau advise that 24 hour totals in excess of 100 mm are possible.
A Flood Watch is also current for the St Georges Basin and the Moruya and Bega river valleys and the St Georges Basin for possible minor flooding
Locations which may be affected include Gosford, Sydney, Penrith, Parramatta, Wollongong, Nowra, Bowral, Batemans Bay, Eden, Bega, Moruya Heads and Katoomba.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Don't drive, ride or walk through flood water.
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
* If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue.
