Severe Weather Update

03/03/2017 10:07 PM

As of 10pm on Friday 3 March, the NSW SES had received 437 jobs from 1041 calls to the Service's State Operations Centre in Wollongong.

The majority of these calls are for leaking roofs, with the worst affected areas The Hills (72), Wollongong (38) and Sutherland (32). Many calls continue to be received from those areas affected by the storms of two weeks ago, and NSW SES urges people in those areas to check or have professionally assessed their roof for damage and to arrange for repairs by a licensed tradesperson where damage has occured.

NSW SES volunteers are being supported in the field by local councils as well as other emergency services, and are expecting to again be in the field undertaking temporary repairs to damaged properties on Saturday.

Rain is expected to increase overnight as a small low moves south from the Hunter, with rain contracting to the Illawarra and South coast later on Saturday. The rain is likely to bring the risk of flash flooding as well as further damage to property, notably leaking roofs.
