The NSW SES is continuing to respond to major flooding in the Richmond Tweed Region.

Since Wednesday evening NSW SES volunteers have undertaken over 406 flood rescues and responded to over 2220 requests for assistance.

There are currently 31,600 people impacted by Evacuation Orders and advice that remain in place for the following communities:

  • South Murwillumbah, Condong and Tumbulgum
  • Chinderah, Kingscliff, Fingal Head and Bilambil
  • Lismore CBD, and North and South Lismore
  • Tweed Heads South, Tweed Heads West, Tweed Heads
  • Murwillumbah CBD and East
  • Kyogle
  • Billinudgel
  • Ocean Shores
  • New Brighton
  • Seagulls Estate and Banora
  • Coraki

As flood peaks continue to move downstream, communities are being asked to remain vigilant and heed the advice of the NSW SES should they need to evacuate.

The NSW SES will be monitoring river levels and flood impacts on communities including Ballina, Wardell, Cabbage Tree Island, Coraki, Bungawalbyn and Woodburn.

Chinderah will also be monitored as the Tweed River levels fluctuate between minor and moderate flood levels with the tidal influences during Saturday.

All Clear messages will be sent out to evacuated communities once the situation is safe for people to return to their homes.

As floodwaters slowly begin to recede, recovery efforts will be able to take place.
