Get Ready NSW As Cold Front Approaches

30/11/2017 04:26 PM

The Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) have advised a cold front will approach NSW at the end of the week. We anticipate that during the course of Friday and Saturday falls over 100mm are likely. Many locations over the southeast inland may see their December monthly average rainfall within the first couple of days of December.

The main areas of concern for Friday will be the Upper and Lower Western, Riverina and Central and South West Slopes.

On Saturday 2 December, the areas for concern will be the Riverina, Central and South West Slopes, Central and Southern Tablelands and possibly the ACT and Snowy Mountains. There is also concern for those areas that are closer to the ranges. There is also a risk of this rainfall causing local flash flooding as well as riverine flooding.

By Sunday, 3 December conditions should have eased across most areas as the low moves southeast into Victoria and the Tasman Sea, with slightly less humid conditions across most of southern/western NSW.

Current warnings are out for:

  • Severe Weather Warning for South West Slopes, Riverina and parts of Southern Tablelands, Central West Slopes and Plains, Lower Western, Snowy Mountains and Australian Capital Territory
  • Flood Watch for the Bell, Belubula, Murrumbidgee, Upper Murray and Snowy Rivers.

This Flood Watch means that people living or working along the Belubula River, Molong Creek and Mandagery Creek must monitor the latest weather forecasts and warnings and be ready to move to higher ground should flooding develop.
