Get Ready for a wet and stormy week ahead

The Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) are forecasting a week of wet and stormy weather as a low pressure system and associated trough delivers widespread thunderstorm activity across the State.
A coastal trough will develop off the north coast from mid-week, with the potential for significant rainfall totals to build up in the northeast by the end of the week

The NSW SES is asking to people to Get Ready by doing 5 things today that will make sure you are ahead of the weather for the rest of the week:
- Know your risk – go to the NSW SES website and put your postcode in here to find out more about the risks in your local area
- Plan now for what you will do – talk with your family and plan what you will do if a disaster affects your area.
- How will you get to a safe place?
- How will you contact each other?
- Prepare your Home Emergency Kit
- Get your home ready now
- Clean gutters and drains
- Secure any loose items in your backyard or balcony including trampolines and garden furniture
- Check your roof is in good repair
- Trim overhanging branches
- Park your car undercover
- Ensure your children and pets are safe
- Be Aware and Informed
- Look out for your family, friends and neighbours and those who need assistance
