Flood Watch for the Bega and Moruya Rivers
02/03/2017 12:48 PM
According to the Bureau of Meteorology (BoM0, a weak low pressure system may form off the southern or central New South Wales coast late on Friday or on Saturday. Dependent on the development and movement of the low pressure system, this system may produce periods of heavy rainfall along parts of the Illawarra and South Coast from Friday into the weekend. The heaviest rain is expected, at this stage, to be south from Nowra.
This weather system has the potential to cause flooding to develop in the following river valleys from Friday onwards:
- Moruya - minor flooding
- Bega - minor flooding
The NSW SES urges people who live and work in areas subject to the Flood Watch to:
- Lift pumps
- Move equipment and livestock to higher ground
- If isolation is likely stock up on food, fuel, medicine and other essential items
- Campers should relocate campsites to higher ground, ensuring they will not be cut off should conditions worsen
Do not drive through floodwaters. Turn around and seek an alternate, safer route.
If emergency assistance is required, call the NSW SES on 132 500
