Batton Down The Hatches, Wind Hits South-East Of The State

Damaging winds has resulted in property damage across the south-east of the State since Monday afternoon. Since then, NSW SES has received around 260 calls for help with the majority of the jobs relating to fallen trees and roof damage.

Locations with the greatest impact include Ku-ring-gai, Hornsby and Gosford.

This morning Bureau of Meteorology has issued a Severe Weather Warning for damaging winds and damaging surf for Metropolitan, Illawarra, South Coast, Snowy Mountains and parts of Mid North Coast, Hunter, Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands, North West Slopes and Plains, South West Slopes, Australian Capital Territory and Northern Tablelands locations.

Winds are expected to ease for most areas by Saturday, though vigorous winds will persist along the coastal fringe until Saturday night.

Beach conditions in these areas could be dangerous and people should stay well away from the surf and surf exposed areas.

Locations which may be affected include Newcastle, Gosford, Sydney, Wollongong, Nowra, Batemans Bay and Goulburn. View all current weather warnings here: Latest Warnings
