Severe Weather Warning in place for Damaging Winds

A Severe Weatehr Warning is in place y the Bureau of Meteorology for damaging winds for a large part of the state.

The areas include people in the metropolitan, Hunter, South Coast, Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands, Central West Slopes and Plains, South West Slopes, Riverina, Upper Western, Lower Western, Snowy Mountains and Australian Capital Territory forecast districts.

The winds are expected to develop in the Lower Western and Upper Western districts and the Alpine district this morning and extend to the other areas this afternon and later this evening.

Wind gusts of 60 km/hour are predictedwith peak gusts of 100 km/hour. The Alpine Peaks may experience gusts of 90 km/hour with peak usts around 150 km/hour.

The NSW SES recommends that you prepare now for bad weather by securing all loose items around your property, never parking your car under a tree and ensuring that when the weather does hit, you bring children and pets indoors.
