SES has made significant progress towards the recovery of the Moree Plains Shire Council after the second biggest floods in 55 years.
SES Incident Controller Mr James McTavish said that “the flood operation has moved into a transition recovery phase.”
The spirit of flood-affected communities and the support from people and organisations in the Moree Plains Shire has helped recovery efforts, but there are still isolated residents requiring assistance and the SES will continue to help those in need.
Today, SES Officers have been phoning all isolated residents to check on their welfare and to provide advice about supplies and medication for the coming weeks.
This morning the SES Aviation Team transported a 75 year old male to his isolated property after he received medical treatment at Moree Hospital for a red back spider bite and checked that he had enough supplies.
“Moree has shown great resilience in the face of adversity with many homes inundated with water over the past week. We’re asking the people of Moree to continue with the positive spirit and to ensure they help each other in the rebuilding of the town” Mr McTavish said.
SES are proud of our record of responding immediately to each flood event when they occurred and operations will continue throughout NSW in coming weeks as the water moves through the river system.
