All Clear for residents of Yarraman and Chinaman’s Lane

Authorised By:     James McTavish, Incident Controller

After major flooding over the period 30 January 2012 – 6 February 2012, flood waters in the Yarraman and Chinaman’s Lane areas have receded significantly.

While there is still significant inundation of rural areas and large numbers of road closures in the Moree Plains Shire, residents evacuated from Yarraman and Chinaman’s Lane are now free to return to their homes. Residents with over-floor flooding should contact Moree Plains Shire Council for a safety inspection prior to reoccupying their property. Public health inspections will continue in coming days for residences that had water in the property but did not suffer over-floor inundation.

North West Region SES reminds residents not to walk ride or drive through floodwaters – this is the main cause of death and injury during floods.
