Morning thunderstorm update for Sunday

Severe thunderstorms occurred in eastern parts of NSW including Sydney, Hunter, the Blue Mountains and the Mid North Coast from yesterday afternoon and into the early evening.
Coffs Harbour received. 69 requests for assistance consisting mostly of trees down and some roof damage due to intense rainfall.
Taree received 23 calls for assistance consisting almost totally of trees down in the area.
SES volunteers were responding to these jobs well into the early hours of this morning.
Additional volunteer crews were called upon to assist with responding to jobs in Wyong and surrounding suburbs where a total of 78 request for assistance came through in a short period of time.
A total of 361 requests for assistance have come through the NSW SES due to the thunderstorms experienced across the state this weekend.
With further thunderstorms expected for this afternoon in the North East of the state the SES advises people in these areas to be prepared by keeping gutters clear, checking your roof is in good repair, clearing away or securing loose items in yards and balconies and trimming away overhanging trees and branches were safe to do so.
