Flooding continues around NSW
7 February 2012, 3:06PM AET
There have been some heavy local falls in inland NSW and light showers along the eastern part of the state today, however none of these falls are expected to have significant impacts on the current flood event.
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in place for people in the Mid North Coast, Northern Tablelands and parts of the North West Slopes and Plains Forecast Districts.
There are still a number of flood warnings in place. Further information can be received from the BoM .
There have been almost 1500 requests for assistance and 4500 calls to the 132 500 number for flood-related enquiries; these include road information and flood rescues.
The majority of calls to the NSW SES have been for resupply in the North West, Namoi and the Macquarie Regions.
There are about 400 NSW SES members in the flood-affected areas, assisting the community with clean-up efforts with a delivery of gumboots, gloves and brooms are going out to the north west.
Isolations around the state are still in the thousands, with the community of Wee Waa- population of around 2300- still expected to be isolated for the next four days and people in the Weilmoringle, Goodooga and Lightning Ridge areas being warned of isolations next week.
There is the expectation that there will be extensive rural isolations given the geography of the land and the current saturation level of the catchments as floodwater makes its way across the NSW/Qld border. Residents in the footprint area are being asked to prepare their properties now for potential isolation and evacuations.
Motorists are being reminded to never enter floodwater and to call 132 500 if they require assistance. If it is a life threatening emergency, call 000 immediately.
