Lismore SES to Run Business Flood Awareness Seminars

Lismore City SES unit with the support of the Richmond Tweed Region SES unit and the Lismore City Council, will be conducting two Flood Awareness seminars for business owners and employees, who are located in the Lismore CBD area.

 

The seminars will be conducted on Tuesday the 10th November, with the first seminar involving a business breakfast, commencing at 7am at the Richmond Hotel function centre.  This seminar will include a hot breakfast and be restricted to 50 guests.

The second seminar will be conducted at 5.30pm  on the same day (Tuesday 10th) and  held at the Star Court Theatre with light refreshments will be provided during the presentation.  

The seminars will include presentations from Toong Chin, a Senior Natural Resource Officer from the Department of Environment, Climate Change and Water, Bill McDonald and Scott Turner from the Lismore City Council and Stuart Ferguson the Unit Controller of the Lismore City SES unit. The seminars will provide information on topics such as Lismore flood levee behaviour, Lismore City Council responsibilities in a flood, road closure information, flood timelines, warnings, evacuations and the Business Floodsafe Toolkit.

SES volunteers will be personally delivering invitations to businesses located within the  Lismore CBD on Thursday the 5th and Friday the 6th of November.  Numbers for the business breakfast are strictly limited to 50 guests and those wishing to attend are requested to RSVP by Friday November the 6th.

Stuart Ferguson the unit controller of Lismore City SES Unit said that the seminars will provide a venue where the SES can inform the business owners and employees of Lismore CBD what they can expect during a flood, what the SES can do and what they should do.  There will also be information available in the form of brochures, pamphlets and handouts providing flood advice and information at both presentations.

Those business owners wishing to attend either seminar and particularly the business breakfast must RSVP to the Richmond Tweed Region SES headquarters on 66257700 by November 6th.
