Mr Whan was joined by the SES Cadet Coordinator Mr Todd Burns, SES Director David Rae, SES volunteers, and staff and students of Pennant Hills High School at the launch.
“During 2008, the NSW State Emergency Service piloted a Cadet Program for school students in NSW high schools,” he said.
“The success and growth of this program has resulted in the need for additional materials such as this video which will be used to promote the program to school teachers, students and potential Cadet Program facilitators.”
“Given the success of the program at Pennant Hills High School, SES cadets and trainers, along with school staff, were invited to take part in the filming of the video, and in its launch today.”
SES Cadet Coordinator Todd Burns said that the video would prove invaluable in the continued development of the Cadet Program.
“These cadets and the cadet program in general represent the future of the State Emergency Service.”
“The students learn valuable skills and upon graduation have the opportunity to join their local SES unit once they turn sixteen.”
“The commitment and enthusiasm of the cadets as they have undertaken their training has been extraordinary.”
Mr Whan also presented graduating cadets with their certificates at the school assembly.
“The Government is pleased to support the SES Cadet Program to help ensure the future of the Service and the instilling of important qualities such as service and community into our youth.”
