Northern NSW Flooding Final Update

24 June 2009, 10:22am

All river levels have fallen below minor, with access restored to most residents isolated by flooding over the past few days.

There has been no significant rainfall in northern NSW in the last 24 hours and all rivers have now fallen below their minor flood levels.

Orara River

Access has been reinstated for most residents following the opening of the Orara Way at Bluffs Bridge and the Buccurumbi Bridge.

Resupply was conducted yesterday to residents in the Kangaroo Creek Area. Access to this area will be reinstated later today with the opening of the Lower Kangaroo Creek road.

There are still isolated families in the Coutts Crossing, Braunstone, Kumgala, Sherwood Creek and Shannondale areas. Access to these areas should also be available later today. A helicopter remains on standby this morning and is expected to be released later today.

Brunswick River

River levels have continued to fall and there are no longer any isolated properties upstream of Billinudgel.

This is the last update for this flood event.
