Minor Flooding Continues on the Mid North Coast

Minor Flood Warnings are still current for the Bellinger, Orara and Nambucca Rivers after heavy rainfall was experienced in the area overnight.

 

Bellinger River

A peak of 3.14 metres was experienced at approximately 1.40pm today at Thora. This has resulted in approximately 500 people being isolated in the Darkwood area and these isolations are expected to continue later overnight.

A Minor Flood Warning is still current for the area as there is further rainfall predicted that could result in further river rises.

Orara River

The Orara River should peak this evening at Glenreagh at around 6.8 metres. This is just below the 7 metre moderate level.

There have been approximately 500 people isolated in the Orara/Coutts Crossing area, and these isolations are expected to remain for the next two days.

The SES is on standby to provide resupply where required.

A Minor Flood Warning is still current for the area as there is further rainfall predicted that could result in further river rises.

Nambucca River

In the last 48 hours, approximately 80mm of rain has fallen over the Nambucca River. this has resulted in a Minor Flood Warning being issued.

The river peaked around noon today at Bowraville at 5.6 metres.

A Minor Flood Warning is still current for the area as there is further rainfall predicted that could result in further river rises.

 

There have been approximately 25 requests for assistance in the Clarence/Nambucca and Richmond/Tweed areas, with most of these being for water ingress and some fallen trees.

Residents are advised that under no circumstances should they enter floodwater as it is often faster flowing and deeper than it appears and can contain hidden debris.
