Flood Safety Teacher Resource Package.  A comprehensive flood education package for Primary School (Kindergarten to Year 2) teachers and students.

Kindergarten to Year 2Safety awareness about floods is important for all students.

The Flood Safety Teacher Resource Package (Kindergarten to Year 2) includes many resources for teacher and students that link in with NSW school curriculum areas of PDHPE, HSIE and English.

These resources aim to provide a framework for teachers to implement learning about emergencies, in particular floods, through practical and engaging methods for their students.

The package includes:

Teacher Resource Booklet

The Teacher Resource Booklet contains key definitions, background information on the SES for teachers, a description of the health-promoting schools approach, suggested NSW School Curriculum links, learning experiences for Kindergarten to Year 2 students, lesson plans for content areas in the package and a list of further resources available to teachers.

'When The Flood Came' Big Book

'When The Flood Came' Big Book is the teacher's own copy of a flood story to be read to the students.  'When The Flood Came' details the story of Allan and his family as they experience flooding on their property.

Student Activity Kit

The Student Activity Kit contains worksheets from the lesson plans outlined in the Teacher Resource Booklet, a set of Flash Cards, 'When The Flood Came' Big Book and a CD with all of the activities plus extra images of SES volunteers performing various SES roles within the community.

Other resources

Other resources include extra worksheets and ideas for flood-related learning activities.  Copies of these resources are included in the Student Activity Kit.
